The faun a creature from Roman mythology , has always been a popular subject in art. Around the turn of the century when mythological themes were increasingly used again by artists of Symbolism, the figure of half god and lustful forest-dweller was often depicted. Also in his work by the German Sculptor Hans Schwengerle, 1882-1950 who rendered the faun in ecstatic pose, with puckered lips ready for kissing. This figure is 8.7 inches 22 cm high. It is in excellent condition commensurate with age and has its original lovely dark chocolate brown patina artist inscribed HS . This model was listed at auction with an estimate of $3200.
