Paul Aichele German 1859-1910 Vienna Bronze Blackamoor Boy with Donkey. Paul Aichele, although a German sculptor, was influenced by the Orientalist movement of the Vienna bronze sculptors of the 19th and early 20th centuries. This orientalist boy is extremely well sculptured with a very lifelike donkey and a lot of motion in the sculpture. The bronze measures 9-3/4 inches from bottom of base to top of boys head. From the tip of the boys whip to the back of the donkeys left hoof it measures 9 inches. The base measures 7 inches long by 4 inches wide. Weight 5.4 lbs. It is signed Aichele and dated 98 for 1898, on the lower part of the back corner. This is a great and very rare orientalist Vienna bronze in excellent condition sure to please any Vienna bronze collector.
