Beautiful Antique Gilt Bronze nymph and devilish looking satyr 19th Century nude sculpture signed Clodion. This is a 19th century sculpture after Clodion depicting a nude seated woman sitting beside a basket of grapes, she is almost completely nude with the exception of a strap holding a portion of her robe, and a small portion of her robe between her legs. The devilish looking satyr has his right hand around her hair and the back of her neck. His left hand is grasping her arm, it looks like he is trying to carry her away with him. She is pulling on his right ear trying to stop him. This is a very animated bronze in excellent condition inscribed Clodion on the base to the left of the satyr's right hoof. This is a rare model, the first of this composition we have seen or purchased in our more than 50 years buying, selling, collecting and appraising antiques and antique bronze sculptures. This will make a wonderful addition to any collection or any collector of mythological or erotic bronze sculptures. The bronze weighs 20.2 lbs. It measures 13-1/8 inches from the bottom of the base to the top of the satyr's horns. The circular bronze base has a 7-7/8 inch diameter. This is a very lifelike and wonderfully animated bronze sculpture in excellent condition. It is a very rare model in the style of and inscribed Clodion.
