Beautiful Antique Gilt Bronze & Marble Lamp Putto Playing Pipes signed S. Kinsburger. Sylvain Kinsburger (French, 1855-1935) was a French sculptor well known for his high quality bronze sculptures that were made in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The lamp we are offering is an exquisite example of this artist's talent. The lamp dates circa 1900, it has a gilt bronze under plate and gilt bronze button feet. the gilt bronze under plate is marked Made in France. It has a beautiful polished cream color marble base decorated with a gilt bronze under plate and a border of gold bronze beads. The sculpture is signed S. Kinsburger on the back. It is a beautiful French lamp with the light pole going behind the putto so it does not damage the sculpture. The putto has a very sweet face and looks down as he plays his pipes. We had this lamp rewired for American use and it works fine, all you need is a shade and a place to display this beautiful lamp. It makes a wonderful bedside lamp on a night table. From the bottom to the top of the finial the lamp measures 20-5/8 inches. The bronze putto sculpture measures 8 inches high. Widest width near his back 2-1/2 inches. This is a wonderful lamp that will surely please any collector of Antique French 19th century decorative arts or bronze sculptures.
