Exquisite antique French enamel painting set in its original 19th century frame. The painting depicts a beautiful nude lady holding a mirror in her hand as she is climbing out of a well. The masked man is trying to pull her back while another man in the lower left is trying to pull what little clothing she has off. It is artist signed in the lower left Debat Ponsan. The back of the plaque has some information about the subject. It says "After a painting by Eduard-Bernard, Debat-Ponsan French 1847-1913 The subject depicts 2 men in 17th century attire. One masked and a nude female figure in a gilt bronze easel frame circa late 19th century." The colors and quality of this enamel are extraordinary. It is a very lifelike, beautifully completed composition. It has an easel back as well as the original gilt medal ring allowing it to be hung on a wall or displayed on a desk top. The enamel measures 6 inches high by 4-3/8 inches wide. Framed size 10-1/2 inches high by 7-1/2 inches wide.
